vindictus a new MMO some are trying

Shall we all put our igns on a thread? Just asking because I've made one of each type of character to get a broad view of the game. I think it'd make things a little easier to get started organization-wise.

the graphics for this game amazed me, for being f2p, i made a tank character so far its soo fun, east server, chat channel 9, name is fuzzybear =D lol add me if you guys are ever one

my cousin decided to take 10 seconds out of his oh so exciting life to erase my mage... I was in the midst of getting a new one up and running when the servers shut down again xD oh well, can't expect a new mmo that insane to be perfect.

I wonder if they ever plan on implementing some new town-like areas :s with the graphical beauty of that game, it'd make it soooo much better in my opinion to add a little more adventure since it's mostly pure actiony adrenaline excitement.

New town and classes being released this month. We choose a random channel each night, so just ask shadow which one he is in :-)

Installed Vindictus because it seemed like a good MMO. Fker won't let me in, probably because I'm not US/Can region.

Ya silly, that's why u need to move here... There are lots of Europeans who play via proxy, but as the game uses p2p connections they can't pt due to lag... But can solo just fine, give it a go zyppy, I have faith in u :-)

meh, i recreated my char on east server, got er up to lvl 8 in about an hour last night and thats where i'm at right now. I added vash rom and tod, if i'm missing anyone let me know. IGN Harbinger2nd

I'm lvl 15 lol, I ended up having to solo the gnoll chieftain and the combo of those two huge wolves (the archer+melee combo, dun remember their names but that was a time consuming task ) I gotta say though it definitely helps with learning how to dodge and be patient haha, scary stuff in that game.

ok. I have a lvl 8 Knight toon on the east server named Amaki if anyone wants to add me. XD and also a new lvl 4 or 5 dual blader toon as well. can't remember the name of the class off the top of my head. the secondary toon is named AmakiII (that's two upper case i's in case you're wondering) XD

so is there a high graphics requirement?? O.o

my computer is probably slower than yours, and i can run it in lowest quality setting with minimal lag. ^.^

Graphical lag is surprisingly uncommon with this game even though it's got better graphical quality then games like NWN 2 or maybe even Oblivion. There's something I noticed during the game that just utterly left me amazed. have your character stand on a certain area where there's two different elevations, and if you make very small movements the legs actually adjust realistically and don't stick halfway into walls and stuff. not exactly the best explanation but it's not something I've seen in very many games :s

Alright I made a NineSigns guild. To join the guild you need to open the guild tab in the bottom right hand corner of the UI once there click guild home, and then guild search. you can find the guild by either typing in its name, or switching and search for the GM which at the moment is me for NineSigns. see ya in game peeps.

So, I've decided to test all three characters and get a pretty firm grip on how each works. So far, got my mage to 15, dual blader to 17, and knight to 8 and counting. As such I've decided to post some tips and tricks of random things in this thread.

As far as starting's concerned, I believe the dual blader is probably the easiest to level quickly and get a good foot in the game with. Quick attacks and having the dodge as a clear advantage over early bosses makes him a great farmer for all of the first quests.

Mages are, surprisingly, the hardest to start out with in my own personal opinion. This is 99% attributed to the fact that at first, you're not gonna have to worry about defending as a knight anyway. Mages come with a clear advantage over pretty much all bosses as opposed to the other characters because of their ranged attacks (i.e. I couldn't solo shadow fang and his cohort with my dual blader without a huge issue, whereas the mage could take them out pretty easily as long as you know what you're doing.) However, as opposed to the blader so far, fighting is much much slower and, if it's an issue for you, there's about just as much animation lag as with the dual blader overall because of the firebolt spell.

Knights have the potential to be the most useful characters in the game in experienced hands it looks like. A combination of defense and powerful strikes can allow for being a strong soloist and an essential party member. I can't wait for the time when they create an aggro system (if they haven't already) for this very reason. Knights are a little slow but the damage they put out makes them pretty easy to farm with off the bat.

onto the tricks:

Getting used to a dual blader is like learning your abc's, just gotta practice stamina conservation and proper use of your skills in the right situation. All I've gotten to use so far has been thousand needles, but I've seen some examples of higher level players. As it stands, spears are only good for AoE when you get them but swords score in the long run during tough battles. A bladers strengths are in its ability to deal damage quickly and then get the f*%k out of the way. Some good practice for that at the beginning is found in the spider pit inside the ruins.~ they generally do best with light armor because they don't have a large carrying capacity, but they need the defense.

Mages are a little more complicated to get used to. Generally their strengths lie primarily in their ability to keep distance (unless you're a scythe mage at level 24+) spells are the most powerful attacks in this game, but they take up so much stamina that you're pretty much stuck with a practical cooldown time. In this case, a decent str+int+combat mastery skill setup is great. Cloth armor is easily the best for mages, as several sets add intelligence.

Knights are easy to fight with, unless of course you want to learn how to do their job right. Using quick defensive maneuvers is an extremely effective method against pretty much everything, but it's gonna take some practice, and a great place to do this would be in just about any area with 3+ mobs, especially with archers. Don't attack the archers and focus plenty on keeping damage to a minimum against those that are attacking you upfront. This is really slow with gnolls unfortunately :s but it's still good practice. Probably one of the greatest bosses to practice defense against is the white archer gnoll (there's like 8 of em, don't expect me to remember names ) because it also has a close range attack which makes it excellent for practicing quick strong attacks followed by defense and avoidance.

Another great thing to remember to improve your early damage-dealing and farming capabilities. There are weapons for each character that they can use at level 1 that are massively powered and fairly cheap, and can always be found in the marketplace. For the mage, the first mega weapon is the howling staff, dunno what the second one is (for level 12+) but I'll get back to everyone on that when my mage has enough money xD for the dual blader, you have the skyfrost twin swords for level 1-12 and then the twin red metal swords for level 12+, and then for the knight you have the sword of salvation for level 1-12 and for 12+ you have the red metal sword.

Other random things:

Bryannia (or however you spell that dastardly wisp's name :S) I decided, after plenty of frustrating attempts to get a spear kill on it and failing to even find it, to figure out how exactly you're supposed to find it. My results aren't exactly solid but I think there's a very high % of encountering it (if it's not guaranteed) in the decisive battle's "2 or fewer" oath of honor course.

Getting all the BP from decisive battle~ it's a little difficult but hey, you get a free helmet in the process. In order to get the "rage helmet," all you have to do is throw spears/rocks at the chieftain's face, preferably the helmet. You have to do this at least twice, depending on the gap between hits.

This is just a small collection of some of the things I've picked up. Obviously I'm still a noob as far as the whole game's concerned, but I just wanted to share some info for any budding new players from the guild

I made an evie named Yaruchi...but this game is giving me headaches...after 2 runs (first 2 quests) lol

i dont like the camera angles you get with the mouse control and the fact that the characters are gender locked...feels like Aika that way

Also already i see gold spammers....omg

yeah the spammers are a little annoying, but consider that this game doesn't have the whole shout chat system and very few people talk in general, so you can just keep your chat in party where the people who actually matter're gonna be ;P

and yeah lol, I only got to test it a couple times. It wasn't solid evidence of anything, but It figure a decent guess is better then nothing right?

I personally find this game a refreshing change from rappelz, it's different enough to keep me interested and on my toes, but not so much that it frustrates me - overall I like it!

I hope to join you guys in this game because I LOVE this type of game. Action MMORPG. But sadly it bans Asia players right? I don't want to use any free proxy though...

psh, banning any country is just racism, and as such free proxy more then makes up as punishment for their deeds xD

I think they might have a different version in japan though, whether it was vindictus or LoL I can't remember, but an extreme version that's apparently much much more BA.

edit: yup, it was vindictus. Apparently it's gonna use the same servers as the original version too, though I have no clue how.
